Who We Are

Main content start

Our collaborative, interdisciplinary lab is focused on improving the lives of infants, children, and young adults with complex illness, including congenital cardiac disease, heart failure, and cancer as well as advancing the well-being of their families. Our research strives to improve understanding of: the ethical, emotional, and practical challenges influencing decision-making in complex pediatric illness and end-of-life care; the impact clinical decisions have on the lives of children and their caregivers; and to empirically develop ethical guidance for implementation of novel technologies to complex care (such as Ventricular Assist Devices, Genomic Sequencing, and Machine Learning). Our work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Stanford Maternal Child Health Research Institute, and private foundations.
